Nadine Bellefleur specializes in commercial and financial services law. Her practice is focused primarily on advising various banks, financial institutions and businesses on the Quebec legislation, including in connection with the following matters:
- Insurance and distribution of financial products and services, including the requirements related to distribution without a representative
- Consumer protection, including the requirements related to consumer credit, warranties, long-term leasing, commercial practices and collection of debts
- French language requirements, including the francization of businesses
- Conditions precedent to carrying out certain activities, such as the registration with the Registraire des entreprises, permitting (alcohol, additional warranties, money lending, etc.) and conditions for advertising sweepstakes
In the course of her practice, Nadine is also often called upon to review various documents to ensure their compliance with Quebec legislation, including credit card agreements, instalment sales contracts, service agreements, advertising documents, insurance policies and certificates, and insurance distribution guides.
Nadine is also involved in business financing matters, for which she drafts and reviews various agreements.
Nadine obtained her LL.B. from Université de Montréal, where she received a mention of excellence as well as an admission scholarship and won the Crochetière Pétrin Award in Security Law. In the spring of 2002, Nadine participated in a program on Introduction to the Chinese legal system at the China University of Political Science and Law, in Beijing.
Nadine is a member of the Canadian Bar Association.
