Professional Activities

Alison is a certified executive coach with the Hudson Institute of Coaching. In recent years, she has focused on providing coaching support and training to help lawyers optimize their business development potential and enhance their leadership skills. Her coaching and training activities have provided a natural platform for her to promote diversity by helping women in the legal profession succeed and advance into leadership positions aligned with both their career goals and the needs of their organizations.

Alison is the co-leader of the Firm's Preparing for Rain coaching program for mid to senior level female Associates and was the driving force behind the creation of the Stepping Up: Preparing to be a GC program, a leadership development program designed to provide women in-house counsel with the necessary skills, knowledge and direction to step up to the role of General Counsel. Most recently, Alison's time and energy has been focused on increasing gender diversity in the boardroom by helping women in-house counsel achieve their board aspirations through the creation of the Women GCs on Boards program and the Blakes Board Report, the first benchmarking study of its kind to examine the Canadian public company landscape for GCs.

Alison served as a member of the Steering Committee of the 30% Club Canada and currently serves as a mentor for the Loran Scholars Foundation.
