Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. for the 10th time. We are honoured to receive this recognition once again and to stand with other leading Canadian organizations on the list.
According to Mediacorp, “Inclusion is a central part of conversations happening across the country. Organizations that make this an integral part of their workplace reap the benefits of diverse perspectives, which leads to increased innovation, productivity, and engagement.”
“Diversity and inclusion are key to our success,” said Brock Gibson, Chair of Blakes. “The business community and our client base are made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Fostering an inclusive work environment and growing a diverse team means we will be better aligned with the marketplace in which we operate.”
Blakes received this award 10 times, more than any other law firm, having previously won from 2008 to 2011 and 2015 to 2020.
Canada’s Best Diversity Employers has been published annually for the past 13 years. Winners are selected based on submissions to the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers. The survey considers employers’ workplace inclusivity from five diverse groups: women; visible minorities; persons with disabilities; Aboriginal Peoples; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) peoples.
The winners were announced in a special magazine published in The Globe and Mail.
In addition to sustaining our ongoing diversity and inclusion initiatives, Blakes continues to focus on creating gender balance and empowering women in the workplace. In 2019, Blakes introduced a work allocation system to ensure an even playing field for new hires and does ongoing unconscious bias and inclusive leadership training.
