Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) has won three honours at the Canadian Law Awards 2021.
Blakes earned M&A Deal of the Year, Infrastructure & Projects Deal of the Year and Commercial Litigation Team of the Year at the second annual virtual event.
“Our lawyers are being recognized for outstanding contributions to some of the most significant transactions and cases in this country,” said Firm Managing Partner Bryson Stokes. “We are honoured to work with our clients on matters that continue to shape business law in Canada.”
The awards are tied to specific deals and cases, and they recognize the firms involved in each matter.
In the M&A Deal of the Year category, Blakes was recognized for our work advising KingSett Capital, Starlight Investments and other investors on their C$4.8-billion acquisition of Northview Apartment REIT.
The Infrastructure & Projects Deal of the Year award cited Blakes for our work advising TC Energy Corp. on its sale of a 65% equity stake in the Coastal GasLink Pipeline in British Columbia.
Blakes was named Commercial Litigation Team of the Year for Attorney General of British Columbia v. Attorney General of Canada (B.C.), argued before the Supreme Court of Canada.
The Canadian Law Awards are presented annually by Lexpert. Nominees were selected from hundreds of submissions from firms and legal departments nationwide. An audited, independent judging panel reviewed the nominations and scored them against strict criteria.
