Award spotlights Firm’s focus on community outreach and fostering diverse talent.
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes or the Firm) has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 2024. This is the 14th time Blakes has received this award, which is more times than any other law firm.
“At Blakes, our commitment to our people is focused on ensuring that everyone has equitable access to opportunities and feels a sense of promise that drives them forward,” said Kyle Elliott, Counsel, Diversity & Inclusion. “We are proud to be consistently recognized as a leader in recruiting, retaining and advancing diverse talent.”
Individuals across the Firm and at all levels actively participate in meaningful efforts to promote inclusion and advance the careers of professionals from equity-deserving groups. Our affinity groups — Pride@Blakes, Women@Blakes, Black@Blakes, EastAsian@Blakes and SouthAsian@Blakes — play a leading role in these efforts, while building connections with our clients and the broader legal community.
Blakes has continued to implement new workplace diversity training programs and host important learning sessions on topics ranging from antisemitism and reconciliation to Black history and South Asian perspectives in law. In 2023, the Firm launched a partnership with justice education charity Level to provide pro bono services and financial support for its outreach to Indigenous youth. Additionally, Blakes continued its longstanding internship programs and once again hired interns through the Avenue Black Undergraduate Law Internship Program.
