Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is pleased to announce that Partner Kelly Bourassa has been appointed President of the Insolvency Institute of Canada (IIC). With over 20 years of experience, Kelly is a recognized leader in restructuring and insolvency, representing public companies, lenders and other stakeholders in insolvency proceedings across a diverse range of industries.
As President of the IIC, Kelly will support its mission to foster excellence, collegiality and thought leadership in commercial restructuring and insolvency. She is also committed to advancing the IIC’s goals of attracting top industry talent and promoting diversity and inclusion within its membership.
Before becoming President, Kelly served as Vice-President of the IIC. She is also a former president and active member of the Turnaround Management Association’s Northwest Chapter and a member of the Association of Corporate Growth’s Calgary branch. Additionally, Kelly serves as editor of the Canadian Bankruptcy Reports (Western Canada) and has contributed extensively to insolvency literature, including to Canada’s leading insolvency publication, the Annual Review of Insolvency Law.
At Blakes, Kelly co-leads the Restructuring & Insolvency group. She has consistently been recognized as a leader in her field, including being named one of Benchmark Canada's Top 100 Women in Litigation 2023 and featured in prestigious legal directories such as Chambers Global, The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and The Legal 500 Canada.
