Named One of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for Sixth Time

We are pleased to announce that Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) has once again been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers by Mediacorp Canada Inc. This is the sixth time we have received this recognition, having previously won from 2008 to 2011 and in 2015. According to Mediacorp, “The winners of this year’s Canada’s Best Diversity Employers competition … make a persuasive case that becoming an inclusive organization is a great way to improve innovation.”

We also firmly believe that a large part of our success is directly correlated with promoting diversity internally.”

Since we last won this award, we continue to develop relevant diversity programming and initiatives both in-house and for our clients. Most recently, we launched a Diversity & Inclusion Speaker Series, which will feature leading business professionals, scholars and thought leaders. The goal of the series is to engage our clients in meaningful and dynamic discussions on important topics relating to fostering excellence through inclusion.

Canada’s Best Diversity Employers has been published annually since 1999. Winners are selected based on submissions to the annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers. The survey takes into account employer’s workplace inclusivity from five diverse groups: women; visible minorities; persons with disabilities; Aboriginal Peoples; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) peoples.

The award was presented to Blakes and the other winners at a ceremony held at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in downtown Toronto on February 24. The results were also announced in a special magazine published in The Globe and Mail.
