Senior Graphic Designer
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes or the Firm), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, has an immediate opening for a Senior Graphic Designer to join the Client Relations & Marketing department in the Toronto office.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Marketing, Brand & Digital, the Senior Graphic Designer will design printed and digital graphics, ensuring graphics, logos, illustrations, communications and collateral adhere to the Firm’s brand guidelines and quality standards.
Primary responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Delivering compelling and creative designs for a range of materials, including, but not limited to, invitations, advertisements, booklets, handouts, RFP materials, event signage, social media and web assets, electronic communications, and videos.
- Ensuring all creative assets are aligned with the Blakes brand.
- Liaising with outside vendors where required and arranging printing, etc.
- Liaising with and guiding freelancers and an external creative agency.
- Building strong relationships with internal and external clients by providing quality customer service while maintaining a positive attitude, flexibility and resilience and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Contributing to the team effort by helping others in the department meet deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner.
- Maintaining technical knowledge by attending courses and workshops and reading professional publications.
- Implementing accessibility standards, including AODA, to ensure compliance when finalizing any digital product with a mass audience, such as website assets.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Degree or diploma in graphic design or related field.
- Minimum of seven years of previous graphic design experience is required.
- Motion-graphic design experience is an asset.
- Agency or professional services experience is an asset.
- A portfolio demonstrating a wide scope of projects and clients, particularly corporate print and digital materials, is required.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Acrobat and After Effects).
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of design trends and brand standards.
- Strong attention to detail with respect to layout, colour and typography.
- Strong prioritization skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
- Strong independent problem-solving skills, with the ability to make proactive recommendations.
- Client-service-oriented, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organization and production management skills.
- Familiarity with AODA accessibility standards.
- Proficiency in understanding requirements and effectively working with data.
