About Clint

Clint is an experienced litigation and arbitration lawyer with a broad range of expertise spanning multiple jurisdictions, including Canada, South Africa and the Middle East. He has built an impressive, multi-jurisdictional career, offering comprehensive dispute resolution services across diverse sectors, including construction, energy, commercial, insurance and regulatory matters.

Clint's practice focuses on corporate commercial litigation and arbitration to resolve high-stakes disputes, with extensive experience in complex cross-border matters.

Before joining Blakes, Clint worked for a large international firm in South Africa, Dubai and Calgary. He has gained valuable experience in prominent dispute forums, including the South African High Courts, the Dubai International Financial Centre Courts and the Alberta Court of King's Bench. He has also acted in numerous arbitrations under various leading arbitral institutions, including the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), London Court of International Arbitration and Dubai International Arbitration Centre and DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre (DIFC-LCIA).

Clint is recognized for his analytical rigor, technical expertise and ability to navigate intricate legal and commercial challenges in diverse legal landscapes. He combines deep legal expertise with rich experience, offering clients strategic insights into their disputes.

  • A large Canadian corporation involved in a high-value and technically complex dispute in the Alberta Court of King's Bench, Alberta Court of Appeal and ad-hoc arbitration proceedings

  • A Canadian high-net-worth individual and owner of the world's largest online gaming platform in a US$90-million damages claim arising out of a go-private transaction

  • One of Pakistan's largest telecommunications companies in a DIFC-LCIA arbitration against a U.S. satellite-services provider over various aspects of the provision of satellite services in Pakistan

  • An international airports operator in an ICC arbitration over a claim for payment for services rendered at various airports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

  • The owner of a nuclear power plant in the Middle East in relation to various aspects of the construction project, including design defects, construction defects, delay, contractual interpretation and reference plant comparisons

  • The owner of a gas-powered power plant in Turkey with respect to possible disputes with the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and joint venture partner in respect of potential catastrophic defects in turbines installed at the plant

  • A Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed construction company in an ICC arbitration, against the National Highways Authority of India in relation to various claims and counter-claims relating to the construction of and concession revenues from an Indian national highway

  • The operator of a five-star hotel on the Palm Island in Dubai in a dispute with the hotel Owner. The dispute spanned over four mediations, three DIFC-LCIA arbitrations, multiple court proceedings in the United Arab Emirates national courts and proceedings in the State of California

Professional Activities

Clint is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of South Africa, the Calgary Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He also volunteers his time as a Calgary Rugby Union disciplinary officer.
