About Diane

Diane's practice covers a broad range of corporate and commercial matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reorganizations, and commercial transactions.

Diane was previously based in the Firm's New York office, where she developed cross-border transactional expertise focusing on Canada/U.S. cross-border M&A transactions.

Diane joined Blakes as a summer student in 2018 and completed her articles with the Firm in 2019/2020.

Representative matters include acting on behalf of:

  • Apollo Global Management on various transactions, including its acquisition of a minority stake in PetSmart and its US$8.1-billion take-private acquisition of Univar Solutions

  • Scotiabank on the establishment of its joint venture with Cineplex, Canada's largest movie theatre chain, and Empire, one of Canada's largest grocery retailers, and the launch and expansion of the Scene+ national loyalty program

  • L Catterton on various transactions, including its acquisitions of Birkenstock and Beauty Industry Group

  • Paramount on the US$1.6-billion sale of Simon & Schuster to KKR & Co. Inc.

  • Lyft, Inc. in its acquisition of PBSC Urban Solutions, a global supply leader for bikeshare equipment and technology

  • Trivest Partners on the sale of Total PowerGen Solutions to Audax Management Company, LLC

  • Avista Healthcare Partners in its acquisition of Trillium Health Care Products Inc. from New Water Capital

  • Litera on its acquisition of Kira Systems and its industry-leading machine learning contract analysis technology

  • MCAP on its acquisition of Paradigm Quest creating Canada's largest non-bank lender with more than C$140-billion in mortgage assets under management

  • A multinational media company in connection with the reorganization and ongoing management of its global holding structure

  • A consolidator in the Canadian health-care industry on its acquisitions, equity offerings and corporate governance
