About Erik

Erik's practice focuses primarily on assisting clients with general corporate and commercial matters. He has assisted clients on various matters and transactions, including share and asset acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and project governance, corporate reorganizations, energy and mining infrastructure development and operational agreements, marketing and logistics agreements, and EPC and supply chain agreements.

Erik has experience working in a broad range of industries, including upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas, agribusiness, mining, power and renewables, and technology.

Recent representative matters including acting for or advising:

  • Strathcona Resources Ltd. in its partnership with Canada Growth Fund Inc. to develop up to C$2-billion of major carbon capture and sequestration infrastructure on Strathcona's steam-assisted gravity drainage oil sands facilities in Saskatchewan and Alberta

  • Pembina Pipeline Corporation on its acquisition of Enbridge Inc.'s joint-venture interests in Alliance Pipeline, Aux Sable and NRGreen for C$3.1-billion and its concurrent C$1.1-billion bought deal offering of subscription receipts

  • Suncor Energy Inc. on its C$1.468-billion acquisition of TotalEnergies EP Canada Ltd., which holds a 31.23% working interest in the Fort Hills oil sands mining project

  • Pembina Pipeline Corporation on its C$11.4-billion joint venture with KKR & Co. Inc. to merge their western Canadian natural gas processing assets

  • Hg in connection with its acquisition of Benevity, Inc. alongside General Atlantic, JMI Equity and the Benevity management team

  • EPC and supply chain contracting matters for the development of mining agribusiness and electricity projects

  • ENMAX Corporation on the sale of the District Energy Centre facility to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure PLC

Erik is a member of the Law Society of Alberta and a director of the Calgary chapter of Young Professionals in Energy.
