About Catherine
Catherine has been practising employment and labour law since the beginning of her career. She advises employers on various employment issues, including the management of the employment relationship in both non-unionized and unionized contexts, labour standards, employment contracts, human rights, human resources policies, and employee benefits management. She represents employers before the various Quebec judicial and administrative bodies, as well as in grievance arbitration proceedings. Catherine is also experienced with pension plan administration and governance, which enables her to advise employers and pension committees on various pension issues.
Catherine also advises employers on issues pertaining to occupational health and safety, both in connection with employee claims filed with the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail and in connection with the daily management of occupational health and safety matters. She has represented employers in hearings before the Tribunal administratif du travail in cases involving psychological harassment and other types of occupational injuries and diseases.
In the context of commercial transactions, Catherine provides strategic advice to clients regarding the impact of the proposed transaction on employees and assists clients with the various steps to be taken with regard to the integration of the workforce and the management of changes in working conditions, the drafting of employment representations and warranties and the drafting of employment-related agreements.
Throughout her career, Catherine has advised a wide range of clients, from multinationals to small businesses, including employers from the public and para public sector. As a result of this experience, she can tailor her advice to the business reality and needs of each client.
In addition to her employment and labour practice, Catherine also handles litigation files relating to access to information requests involving public-sector organizations and businesses in the private sector. In the course of her career, she has also handled and collaborated on civil litigation matters, including professional liability and disciplinary law cases involving health professionals.
