About Jenna

Jenna has a broad commercial litigation practice with experience in securities litigation, privacy, cybersecurity, constitutional and class action matters. She has appeared at all levels of court in British Columbia, and regularly represents clients in hearings and regulatory investigations before securities commissions in British Columbia, Ontario, Alberta, and the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization.

As a member of the Firm's Public Sector Crisis & Compliance group, she helps clients navigate high-stakes legal issues, including government investigations, public inquiries, constitutional matters, and rules surrounding elections and lobbying. She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/C) and advises clients on a broad range of privacy issues.

Prior to joining Blakes, Jenna spent a decade working in the public markets, writing extensively about public companies, and a summer working at a global Chinese law firm in Hong Kong.

Select Experience

Jenna has acted in the follow matters:

  • Acted for Pembina Pipeline Corporation before the Securities Commission to defend its break fee and challenge the use of a total return swap by Brookfield Infrastructure Corporation Exchange Limited in the context of a hostile bid made by Brookfield for Inter Pipeline Ltd. and a white knight bid by Pembina

  • Represented dealers and advisers in regulatory interviews relating to allegations of failure to properly follow Know Your Client obligations, insider trading and tipping

  • Represented public companies, directors and officers, and shareholders in corporate disputes

  • Successfully represented an institutional shareholder in connection with a contested plan of arrangement

  • Advised companies in preparation of and in response to data breaches and cybersecurity incidents

  • Advised companies of their privacy obligations and assisted in drafting privacy policies

  • Assisted clients in responding to access-to-information requests

  • Participating in class action defence counsel teams in product liability, price-fixing and pharmaceutical matters

Professional Activities

Jenna is a member of the Young Advocates' Standing Committee, a national committee of The Advocates' Society devoted to promoting the interests and development of young lawyers. She is also a member of the Vancouver chapter of the Women's White Collar Defense Association and the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She has a Certificate in mining law and sustainability from the University of British Columbia (2021).
