Geoff practises in all areas of intellectual property law, with a focus on patent and trademark litigation in the life sciences sector. Clients turn to him for strategic counselling and pragmatic advice on sensitive disputes as well as regulatory and compliance matters.
Geoff’s experience spans all aspects of complex patent litigation, from pre-litigation opinions to appearing before provincial and federal courts. He works closely with counsel around the world to coordinate the Canadian side of multi-jurisdictional lawsuits. His experience with proceedings under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations includes patent disputes related to innovative small-molecule drugs, biologics, formulations and dosage forms.
In his regulatory and compliance work, Geoff advises innovative life sciences clients on issues related to pharmaceuticals, biologics, medical devices and health care. His experience includes life cycle management and data protection, product and establishment licensing, approval pathways, drug marketing and advertising, interactions with health-care professionals and institutions, drug reimbursement and pricing, Form IV patent listing, Certificates of Supplemental Protection and the implications of international trade agreements.
Geoff’s expertise in trademark litigation and procurement includes providing opinions and advice on registrability and freedom to operate, brand strategy, trademark prosecution and general trademark litigation.
He is a certified specialist in patent law and a registered patent and trademark agent.
