About Claire

Claire practises in both commercial litigation and insolvency and restructuring. Her commercial litigation practice focuses on contractual disputes, tort claims, shareholder litigation and transactional claims. Claire's insolvency and restructuring practice focuses on advising debtor companies, unsecured and secured creditors, purchasers of distressed assets and other parties affected by insolvency issues. She has experience working on behalf of financial institutions and accounting firms, as well as mining, resource and construction companies. Claire joined Blakes as an articling student after clerking for six Justices of the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Claire frequently provides pro bono legal advice through Access Pro Bono.

  • Arbitration counsel to an international construction company in a dispute involving delay and disruption claims in connection with the construction of significant energy infrastructure

  • Counsel to Carillion Canada, the Canadian subsidiary of Carillion plc, one of Canada's largest integrated construction support services and facilities management services, in its CCAA proceedings

  • Counsel to an international mining company in a contractual dispute regarding the purchase of mineral tenure claims

  • Counsel to a multinational automobile manufacturer in defence of a product liability claim alleging unintended acceleration

  • Counsel to a helicopter transportation company under CCAA protection in a successful application regarding the purchase of industrial equipment

  • Counsel to an international manufacturing company in a commercial leasing dispute
