About Isaias

Isaias practises civil and commercial litigation. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in British Columbia and has assisted on matters before various arbitral tribunals.

He has experience in complex tort and contractual disputes, securities litigation, shareholder disputes, class action defence and commercial arbitration. Isaias also has experience in the litigation aspects of transactional law, including court approved plans of arrangements and corporate reorganizations.

Isaias has represented companies in a wide range of industries, including mining, construction, infrastructure, pharmaceuticals, cannabis, financial services and technology.

Some of Isaias' recent experience includes acting as counsel to:

  • A software company in an oppression proceeding relating to the sale of the company brought by an American hedge fund

  • The directors and officers of a publicly traded mining company in a proposed class action involving allegations of negligence and misrepresentations in public disclosure documents

  • An owner defending a C$1.25-billion ICC arbitration claim regarding construction of energy infrastructure

  • A commercial landlord in a domestic arbitration involving a commercial grower's non-compliance with cannabis laws and regulations

  • A financial technology and cryptocurrency hosting company in a contractual dispute and defence of a receivership application

  • A commercial trucking sales and repair company in a trial involving allegations of workmanship defects and negligence

  • The CEO and director of a public multinational company in a complex corporate governance dispute involving allegations of misconduct

Professional Activities

Isaias is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Canadian Bar Association, the Vancouver Bar Association and The Advocates' Society.
