About Jacob

Jacob's practice focuses on a variety of capital markets transactions, including public offerings and private placements of securities, mergers and acquisitions, and financings.

He also advises clients on corporate governance and securities regulatory matters, including the continuous disclosure obligations of public issuers.

Jacob joined Blakes as a first-year Summer Student in 2019 and completed his articles with the Firm in 2021/2022.

Mergers and Acquisitions

  • Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. on its proposed acquisition of Stelco Holdings Inc., a transaction representing an enterprise value of approximately C$3.4-billion

  • Advent International Corporation on its proposed US$6.3-billion acquisition of Nuvei Corporation, a Canadian fintech payment platform

  • Royal Bank of Canada on its C$13.5-billion acquisition of HSBC's Canadian business

  • ICPEI Holdings Inc. and the Special Committee of the Board of Directors on their going private transaction with a consortium, including Desjardins Insurance Group and members of management

  • H&R REIT on its spin-off of its Primaris properties, including all of H&R's enclosed malls, to a new stand-alone publicly traded REIT

Capital Markets

  • Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce on its US$2.25-billion offering of senior notes

  • Syndicate of underwriters in connection with Ontario Power Generation Inc.'s medium term note program
