About Justin

Justin is a member of the Competition, Antitrust & Foreign Investment group, widely regarded as one of the leading competition law practices in Canada and recently named Competition Regional Firm of the Year – Americas by Global Competition Review.

Justin advises on all aspects of competition law, including merger review, joint ventures and strategic alliances, with a focus on economic analysis of large, complex competition matters. He also advises on foreign investment merger review under the Investment Canada Act.

Since joining Blakes, Justin has gained significant experience in matters in banking, industrial & chemical manufacturing, telecommunications, infrastructure & construction, energy and biomedicine.

Select Experience

Representative matters in which Justin has been involved include:

  • Royal Bank of Canada on its C$13.5-billion acquisition of HSBC Bank of Canada

  • Superior Plus Corp. in connection with its acquisition of Certarus Ltd. for total consideration of approximately C$1.05-billion
