About Liam
Liam is an experienced litigator whose practice includes white-collar criminal defence, internal and government investigations, anti-corruption and anti-fraud compliance, asset tracing and recovery, and complex commercial disputes. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Court of King's Bench in Alberta.
Liam is known for his deep expertise in white-collar matters, including complex cross-border investigations and litigation. In 2021 and 2022, he was recognized by the International Financial Law Review as a "Rising Star" in the area of White-Collar Crime.
Liam maintains a robust compliance practice. He regularly advises on compliance with domestic and international anti-corruption legislation, and he assists large corporate clients with global anti-corruption and anti-fraud risk assessments. He has conducted anti-corruption trainings for multinational companies and pro-bono clients, including for prosecutors and enforcement authorities in Zimbabwe. Liam also advises on compliance with forced labour legislation.
As a member of the Firm's Public Sector Crisis & Compliance group, Liam is frequently called upon to help clients navigate high-stakes legal matters with a public sector component.
Liam also leads internal investigations and dispute resolution matters for sports organizations. Prior to joining the Firm, Liam spent time in Europe working in international sports arbitration, where he was involved with several matters before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Liam routinely speaks and publishes on his areas of expertise, and he has served as an adjunct professor at Osgoode Hall Law School (York University).
