About Margaret

As a member of the Firm's Transaction Services Department, Margaret assists on numerous corporate acquisitions and reorganizations. She has more than 30 years of experience, particularly with incorporation and ongoing maintenance matters.

Margaret's duties include preparing checklists, closing agendas, authorizing resolutions and related supporting documentation, as well as preparing and filing articles of incorporation, amalgamation, continuance, amendment and dissolution. She also prepares and files the extraprovincial registration documents for the purposes of the relevant transactions.

Margaret has attended at the offices of three major clients in the retail and financial services sectors in order to identify and assist in the rectification of corporate records, assess and recommend updating of precedents and diary systems, and assist in the training of junior in-house law clerks.

Professional Activities

Margaret is an associate member of The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario. She has spoken at continuing legal education programs for the Law Society of Ontario and, together with a Blakes partner, presents in-house seminars to our articling students on the topic of reorganizations.

Margaret has trained numerous law clerks at Blakes and is currently a mentor to a junior law clerk.
