About Matthew

Matthew’s practice primarily services clients in the resource sector, providing strategic advice on regulatory and environmental matters at all stages of project development. His practice is national in scope, acting for clients across Canada on regulatory, environmental and Indigenous law matters.

Matthew has experience assisting clients with regulatory and legislative compliance, Indigenous consultation, environmental assessments, and commercial transactions.

  • Advising mining and energy companies on a range of environmental regulatory issues

  • Drafting commercial agreements involving Indigenous nations (funding agreements, impact benefit agreements, exploration agreements, etc.)

  • Advising major resource companies on environmental assessments at a provincial and federal level

  • Providing strategic advice on Indigenous-related legal matters, including consultation and regulatory processes, construction and procurement, and land management regimes

  • Providing strategic advice and support on engaging Indigenous groups, regulators and other governmental agencies

  • Advising corporations on environmental due diligence for commercial transactions

  • Representing clients in the defence and resolution of regulatory charges
