About Mitchell

Mitchell's practice focuses on all areas of corporate/commercial litigation and dispute resolution. He has experience in a variety of areas, including civil arbitration and mediation, construction litigation, securities litigation, contractual disputes, employment matters and administrative law.

Before joining Blakes, Mitchell served as a judicial law clerk for the justices of the Court of King's Bench of Alberta.

Select Experience

Representative matters in which Mitchell has been involved include:

  • Acting for construction clients in defending builders' liens claims

  • Acting for a registered charity in a claim for wrongful use of its trade name and branding

  • Assisting with defending shareholder claims for oppression

  • Assisting with a successful plan of arrangement to carry out a corporate amalgamation

  • Assisting with an action for constructive dismissal

  • Assisting with a C$65-million expedited private arbitration that progressed from notice of arbitration to final award within 2.5 months

Professional Activities

Mitchell is a member of the Law Society of Alberta. He also volunteers with the King's Bench Amicus Program and Civil Claims Duty Counsel Program, where he provides pro bono legal advice to underrepresented litigants.
