About Parmida

Parmida has a broad commercial litigation practice, primarily representing clients in the defence of complex business and tort disputes, product liability claims and class proceedings. She acts for local and international clients operating in a wide range of industries and provides proactive advice on litigation avoidance strategies, risk management and government regulation and compliance.

Parmida has appeared as counsel before all levels of court in British Columbia as well as domestic and international arbitral tribunals. She also regularly represents clients in proceedings before administrative and regulatory bodies and tribunals.

  • Counsel to leading multinational manufacturers and distributors of medical devices, pharmaceutical medicines and equipment in the defence of product liability class proceedings and individual actions; also involved in the national and international co-ordination of class action defence strategy

  • Counsel on national class action defence teams involving consumer protection, price-fixing and competition/antitrust claims

  • Counsel to a multinational actuarial services firm in a professional liability dispute

  • Representing multinational manufacturers and distributors in investigations by government regulators regarding compliance with health and safety requirements

  • Counsel to a multinational technology company in a series of international arbitral proceedings

  • Counsel to a leading multinational mining corporation in a complex contractual and financing dispute

  • Counsel for Lyft, defeating an application by a union organization before the British Columbia Labour Relations Board seeking to declare rideshare drivers as employees under the Labour Relations Code, R.S.B.C. 1996 c. 244
