About Patrick

Patrick's practice encompasses a wide range of commercial real estate matters in all asset classes, including purchase and sale transactions, leasing, joint ventures and financings. He also provides real estate advice in connection with a variety of domestic and international mergers and acquisitions transactions. Patrick regularly acts for domestic and international clients, including pension funds, landlords and tenants. His practice has a particular focus advising institutional investors and private equity real estate clients on the purchase and sale of commercial real estate, as well as related financings, joint venture- and management-related matters.

Patrick has spent time practicing in the Middle East, where he gained valuable experience working on international corporate, commercial and real estate matters. He also completed a part-time secondment at one of the Firm’s major clients in the region, working under the company’s general counsel to support various contracting, supply chain, and real property matters and initiatives.

  • A major developer of industrial warehouse and distribution facilities on various transactions, including the sale of a major purpose-built facility to its sole tenant, and a landmark acquisition of development land for nearly C$500-million

  • A Canadian real estate investment advisory services company in connection with various acquisition, development and joint venture matters, including the acquisition of numerous industrial properties throughout the Greater Toronto Area

  • A Canadian pension fund in connection with various real estate acquisitions, including a C$30-million suburban office building in Mississauga, Ontario, a C$43-million flexible office space property in Toronto, Ontario and a C$158-million LEED Gold-certified warehouse and distribution facility in Brampton, Ontario

  • A Canadian institutional investor on the more than C$300-million sale of a class ‘A’ office building in the financial centre of Toronto, Ontario

  • A private equity real estate investor on the sale of a retail plaza and the re-financing of other real properties in connection with their re-development

  • A private equity real estate investor on the acquisition, sale and re-development of various properties in the Greater Toronto Area

  • The court-appointed monitor in insolvency proceedings related to the re-positioning and sale of numerous medical office buildings located in Ontario  

  • A North American manufacturer of building products in connection with the development and leasing of a built-for-purpose manufacturing facility in Ottawa, Ontario

  • A global food & beverage company on various real estate matters including the sale of facilities in Ontario

  • A global manufacturer on various real estate matters including the sale of a former facility in Ontario

  • A Canadian REIT in connection with the purchase of an industrial facility in Cambridge, Ontario

  • Ontario Pension Board in connection with the C$1.9-billion purchase by Ontario Pension Board and Workplace Safety Insurance Board of an undivided 50% interest in a 12-building portfolio of office buildings in downtown Vancouver, including the CF Pacific Centre regional shopping mall, from Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited

  • Ontario Pension Board in connection with the C$960-million purchase of a 30% non-managing interest in the six-building 4.5-million square foot Toronto-Dominion Centre in downtown Toronto, together with an office development site at 16 York Street in downtown Toronto, from Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited

  • A Canadian non-profit organization in connection with a lease of office and programming space in an industrial building in Toronto, Ontario

  • An international skin-care brand on a range of retail and office leasing matters connected to its entry into the Canadian market

  • Landlords and tenants in the drafting and negotiation of leases for office, industrial and retail space, lease amending agreements and subleases
