About Ben

Ben acts for energy companies on all types of commercial matters across Canada and internationally. He has considerable experience in a diverse range of energy-related matters, including acquisitions and divestitures, mergers and acquisitions, the structuring of joint venture agreements, midstream matters, project development, and the management of the legal aspects of day-to-day oil and gas and commercial matters.

Ben also has considerable experience in both conventional and non-conventional oil and gas development, as well as in the East Coast offshore.

Ben is Co-Practice Group Leader of the Firm's national Energy – Oil & Gas group.

Professional Activities

Ben's clients benefit from his activity within the industry, as well as his involvement with the Calgary oil and gas legal community. He is a past director and the past president of the Canadian Energy Law Foundation (CELF) and has been an active member of CELF's organizing committee for its annual Jasper seminar, whose primary function is the selection of leading-edge papers in oil and gas law for presentation at the Jasper seminar and publication in the Alberta Law Review.

Ben has lectured and instructed courses and seminars on oil and gas law for Insight, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Landmen, and for other industry associations as well as the University of Alberta Faculty of Law.

He is also a past chair of the Canadian Bar Association (Natural Resource Subsection).
