About Rasheed

Rasheed acts on real property and lending transactions in several industry groups. He has experience in transactions involving buying, selling, leasing, financing and developing commercial real estate, including shopping centres, apartment buildings, office buildings, airports, seaports and industrial properties.

Rasheed advises a broad range of clients such as developers, financial institutions, pension funds and other lenders and investors. He also works closely with other practice groups in the Firm to provide real estate advice relating to commercial transactions.

Rasheed joined Blakes as an Associate after summering and articling with the Firm.

Select Experience

Rasheed has provided real estate advice for:

  • Hackman Capital Partners in connection with its acquisition of Vancouver Film Studios

  • Sycamore Partners in connection with its acquisition of the Canadian business of Lowe's Companies

  • Seabridge Gold Inc. in connection with its US$225-million note to Sprott Resources and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan which is convertible into a silver royalty

  • GCT Global Container Terminals Inc., the operator of major container terminals, in connection with its C$1.09-billion refinancing comprised of senior secured credit facilities and senior secured notes

  • Royal Bank of Canada on its proposed C$13.5-billion acquisition of HSBC Bank Canada

  • StreetToHome Foundation, a non-profit focused on providing housing, services and work training to the homeless, in its acquisition of a large mixed residential and recreational facility on Vancouver Island to carry out its mandate
