About Ryan
Ryan represents and advises clients on a wide range of environmental and electricity regulatory issues. He has experience addressing potential liability for environmental and regulatory offences, resolving property contamination disputes, and obtaining environmental regulatory approvals for energy projects, industrial facilities, and linear infrastructure projects. He also routinely provides environmental law advice on transactions of varying sizes, including some of Canada's largest mergers and acquisitions.
Ryan's environmental practice extends to providing pragmatic advice to clients on how to effectively comply with a variety of environmental statutes and regulations. These include the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, provincial environmental protection statutes, and natural resource legislation. Ryan also regularly assists clients with navigating a variety of federal chemicals management regimes, including PFAS and plastics reporting, as well as provincial and territorial extended producer responsibility legislation.
As part of his electricity regulatory practice, Ryan advises clients on Ontario Energy Board matters, including licensing and regulatory compliance, as well as generation and storage project permitting.
