About Samuel

Samuel’s practice covers various aspects of civil and commercial law, with a particular focus on commercial litigation, class actions, shareholder disputes, civil liability, as well as regulatory and administrative law. He also has experience with extraordinary proceedings, such as injunctions and seizures.

Samuel represents and advises Canadian and foreign clients, including financial institutions, pharmaceutical companies, consumer product and industrial equipment manufacturers, and local companies. Through his varied practice, he has represented clients before all levels of Quebec courts.

Samuel is fluent in English and French.

Select Experience

Representative matters include:

  • Defending companies in various consumer, product liability and competition class actions

  • Defending the interests of major international pharmaceutical companies in class actions pertaining to the alleged side effects of some of their products

  • Advising a pharmaceutical company on the coming-into-force and interpretation of provincial legislation and regulations

  • Representing, as part of a team, the defendant in a multimillion-dollar real estate dispute pertaining to the interpretation of a decades-old agreement between the litigating parties

  • Representing, as part of a team, a major professional association during various preliminary proceedings (application for stay, application for dismissal) in the course of its challenge of a decision by the Office des professions du Québec
