About Shlomi

Shlomi's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate law. He has acted as counsel to Canadian and foreign purchasers and target companies in public company acquisitions, and purchasers and vendors in private M&A transactions. He has also provided general corporate and commercial law advice to a range of Canadian and international clients.

Shlomi joined Blakes in December 2005 after practising for five years with a New York-based international law firm.

  • BCE Inc. on the C$4.7-billion sale of its ownership stake in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) to Rogers Communications Inc.

  • Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. on its proposed acquisition of Stelco Holdings Inc., a transaction representing an enterprise value of approximately C$3.4-billion

  • Advent International Corporation on its proposed US$6.3-billion acquisition of Nuvei Corporation, a Canadian fintech payment platform

  • Penn National Gaming, Inc. in its US$2-billion acquisition of Score Media and Gaming, Inc., creating a leading North America digital sports content, gaming and technology company

  • Sagen MI Canada Inc. (formerly Genworth MI Canada Inc.) on its C$1.6-billion acquisition by Brookfield Business Partners L.P.

  • Torstar Corporation in connection with its acquisition by NordStar Capital L.P.

  • Canadian Real Estate Investment Trust (CREIT) on its C$3.9-billion combination with Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust

  • Agrium Inc. on its US$38-billion merger of equals with Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc.

  • Element on its acquisitions of GE Capital's North American and ANZ fleet portfolio, PHH Corporation's fleet business, TLS Fleet Management and CoActiv Capital Partners, as well as the related financings

  • Bell on its C$670-million acquisition of Glentel Inc. and subsequent sale of a 50% interest in Glentel Inc. to Rogers Communications Inc.

  • Nexen Inc. on its C$15.1-billion acquisition by CNOOC Limited

  • BCE Inc. and Rogers Communications Inc. on their acquisition of a net 75% ownership position in Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment

  • TransGlobe Apartment Real Estate Investment Trust on its acquisition by PD Kanco LP and Starlight Investments Ltd. valued at C$2-billion

  • Suncor Energy Inc. on its C$43-billion strategic merger with Petro-Canada
