About Wajeeha

Wajeeha has a broad corporate/commercial litigation practice and advises clients from a wide range of industries. Her experience includes contractual and tort disputes, class actions, professional liability, construction litigation, Indigenous matters, and oil and gas litigation. Wajeeha has appeared as counsel before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Court of King's Bench of Alberta, and private arbitrators.

Prior to joining Blakes, Wajeeha practised at an international law firm. Before law school, she worked in the intellectual property and technology development office for the University of Calgary after obtaining her master of biomedical technology.

Wajeeha is fluent in both Urdu and Punjabi.

Select Experience

Representative matters in which Wajeeha has been involved include:

  • Acting for a multinational pharmaceutical company in a proposed class action related to product liability and consumer protection

  • Defending a C$20-billion claim seeking Indigenous title and rights to a significant portion of southern Alberta

  • Acting for a national telecommunications company in private arbitration

  • Advising industry clients regarding the duty to consult with Indigenous groups in the context of energy and other major project developments

  • Acting for a power company in a dispute arising from a large P3 infrastructure project

  • Defending professional liability claims brought against members of the health and legal sectors

Professional Activities

Wajeeha frequently provides pro bono legal services to unrepresented litigants through the Alberta Court of King's Bench Amicus Program. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Calgary Bar Association, and The Advocates' Society.
