About Cam

Cam practises corporate law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and securities, corporate restructuring, shareholder activism, and corporate governance and compliance matters.

Cam has extensive experience as an executive in the energy sector, representing both buyers and acquired companies on complex domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, upstream energy transactions and alternative financing structures, and general corporate and commercial matters. He routinely represents publicly traded issuers listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and the TSX Venture Exchange, as well as private companies.

Cam rejoined Blakes after serving as chief operating officer and corporate secretary of a pure-play petroleum and natural gas royalty company, from its inception in April 2014 until August 2023. Before his tenure at this company, he was the executive vice president and chief legal officer of an international energy corporation, where he also served on the board of directors. His work with this corporation and its predecessor companies began in 2010 as vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary.

Cam’s return to Blakes brings a wealth of leadership experience and industry knowledge, further strengthening the Firm’s ability to provide its clients with exceptional legal counsel.

Professional Activities

Cam is a member of the board of directors of Birchcliff Energy Ltd., a TSX-listed energy company focused on the Montney play in Alberta and British Columbia. He is also a member of the Pacific Salmon Foundation, a not-for-profit organization focused on preserving and restoring wild Pacific salmon and their natural habitats.
